G-SHOCK LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVE "CONCRE" WATCH LINE IN COLLABORATION WITH INFLUENTIAL NYC ARTISTS, RETAILERS

NEW YORK CITY—August 30, 2007—Casio G-SHOCK revealed today the launch of "CONCRE," an exclusive watch line designed in collaboration with internationally renown artists, creators and brands from the world of street culture. The first G-SHOCK CONCRE series, featuring models created in partnership with New York artists ERIC ELMS, MADSAKI, ROSTARR and East Village retailer DAVE'S QUALITY MEAT, will be viewable to the public at an exclusive model launch exhibition hosted by DAVE'S QUALITY MEAT during New York Fashion Week (September 5th - September 12, 2007). As a complement to the exhibition, on the evening of September 9th, a private CONCRE launch reception event for media, artists, retailers, friends and family will be hosted by FRANK 151 at THE PLUMM in the West Village (please see exhibition and reception invitation below).

Developed and produced under the guidance of G-SHOCK Japan, the CONCRE line is a significant development for the global G-SHOCK brand. In Japan and worldwide, G-SHOCK is known for its iconic watch collaborations with Japanese domestic streetwear brands such as A BATHING APE and KIKS TYO and for it's creative partnerships with the Japanese branches of global brands and retailers including STUSSY, LEVI'S and UNDEFEATED. However, distribution and sales of such G-SHOCK collaborations are often restricted to Japan, rendering the high caliber creations unavailable to G-SHOCK fans abroad. In a move that expands the distribution of special G-SHOCK make-ups for the first time in the brands history, the new CONCRE watch line will launch worldwide at select streetwear and sneaker boutiques, skate shops, and finer retail accounts in the USA, UK, Europe and Asia.

G-SHOCK CONCRE will be available at retail in October 2007. The ERIC ELMS, MADSAKI, ROSTARR and DAVE'S QUALITY MEAT models will be produced in limited quantities of 250 pieces each. 1000 pieces of an additional signature G-SHOCK CONCRE model will accompany the collaboration offerings.

Darth Vader "Kaws" Version

Rumors abound that come this fall, Medicom will release a Darth Vader "Kaws" version. Fellow members at the Kidrobot forum have speculated that since Kaws did a poster of Darth Vader awhile back n the spotting of the "figure" at the recent Medicom Exhibition, that the vinyl will definitely become a reality.

What a novel idea....if it does happen there will surely be another mad dash at the Original Fake store as well as the Kawsone website!!

Jessica Alba: Mathematically sexy!!??

According to the mathematical boffins at Cambridge University, Jessica Alba with her perfect proportions has the ultimate sexy strut.

The academics found that it is the ratio between hips and waist that puts the sway into a woman’s walk - and the nearer that ratio is to 0.7, the better.

This ratio provides the body with the right torso strength to produce a more angular swing and bounce to the hips during the walking motion.

Therefore, a woman with a 25in waist and 36in hips would have just the right proportions to carry off a sexy swagger as she walks.

Do The right Thing!!

Finally peeps in Malaysia will get the opportunity to own a pair of Jordan Spiz'ike. This installment is in the colorway entitled "Do The Right Thing" which is actually based off the movie poster of the same title.

Should be available in selected Nike stores sometime late September.

Air Max Light

The shoe of mystery....Little is known about this model. Luckily we have Sneaker Freaker n according to the latest edition, the Air Max Light as the name suggests, is an improvement over the debut Air Max. The principal idea being to create a lighter shoe by using phylon instead of polyurethane. The Light also featured a few cosmetic changes, most notable a new sole unit and the introduction of curvy 'thermoplastic' panel that became the trademark of the much loved Air Max 90.

Truth be told, irrespective of whether this model is seen as an in-between or not.....it sure looks damn hot in this OG colorway!!

Adidas Originals BLACK&WHITE / BLACK&WERK

As part of the highly anticipated Fall/Winter’07 collection line-ups, adidas Originals will debut its “Black & White” collection in Singapore on 25 August 2007. To launch the collection in Singapore, adidas has invited Theseus Chan of the renowned “perfect imperfect” WERK magazine to do a special art installation entitled adidas Originals BLACK&WHITE BLACK&WERK to celebrate the collection.

With adidas Originals “Black&White Black&WERK,” WERK will present 40 objects from the adidas Originals Black & White collection set in a environment that intervenes with the adidas Originals Concept Store at Pacific Plaza in Singapore.

For the adidas Originals Black & White collection, the key product will be the limited edition Swarovski-studded all black “adidas Originals Superstar 1 - Swarovski”. This special Superstar gets the blink treatment with about 500 black Swarovski Crystals on each side of the shoe. Singapore will have seven pairs of this Superstar 1 - Swarovski.

This season RockersNYC are exploring the many subcultures they draw influence from; be it politricks, Rasta, 80s hardcore, stoner metal, pop culture or beyond — RockersNYC captures them and bring their visions to life on the Dopethrone.

Adidas Super Skate by Otani

This Superskate Vulcan, a silhouette that debuted in the 70s has been re-vamped with a vulcanized outsole and a full-printed upper that was designed by Otani, a graphic artist based in Japan. Expect to drop in the US later this month. Adidas in the stateside have left the odd cool skate shop n dropping 'em at the mall sneaker stores. My 2 cents....great work Adidas USA!

NB A02 576 - Tartan Pack

NB have stepped it up a notch by utilising tartan as its canvas, available in the dope tomato red colourway or the dark forest green. Introducing a new variation on the awesome 576 model, these shoes feature a massive painted "N" replacing the original plastic logo and finished off with some nifty stitching around the toe box to break up the one piece used to construct the front of the shoe.
