Lee Quinones of the legendary Fabulous Five, was a pioneer graffiti artist and master of painting on the subway in the 70’s (his crew was the first to paint a whole train). Later he was among the first graffiti artists to exhibit in major galleries internationally, and even landed the leading role in the seminal Hip- Hop feature film, “Wild Style”. The Museum of Modern Art’s P.S.1 has now on display a series of 12 paintings by LEE, representations of the artist’s hands stealing Funk 12” grooves (a bit of autobiography!) in the early days when rap and graffiti were still inventing themselves.
This is a special commemorative tee by aNYthing of Lee. Come check out this wonderful piece at Sole What? now.
